Strengths
A tantalizing talent who started slowly and was briefly derailed by injury, Mingo delivered his breakout season in 2022. In terms of traits, he’s the prototype for the modern receiver, with the size and speed combination and enormous, strong hands to produce at all three levels.
He’s a handful for defenses in catch-and-run situations and a competitive and explosive runner with the ball in his hands. He’s also a legitimate deep threat, with the speed to stack defensive backs and ball-tracking ability to finish plays.
Weaknesses
He’s an explosive athlete, but Mingo is also a bit of a straight-line mover, lacking the kind of lateral movement skills to effectively run a full route tree. It’s worth noting that his best statistical production last year came in a 247-yard game against SEC bottom-feeder Vanderbilt (his only other 100-yard game in 2022 was against FCS opponent Central Arkansas). Medicals will get a look, as he missed a chunk of 2021 with a broken foot.
Summary
Mingo isn’t quite the complete package, but his combination of size and explosiveness makes him a potential big-play threat. He has a chance to outpace his college production at the next level.
