On Saturday morning, Connor Hughes of SNY reported that the only thing preventing an Aaron Rodgers trade to the Jets was Rodgers himself.
“From my understanding on Jets & Aaron Rodgers: Everything that needs to be done is essentially done in regards to a trade. Sides have worked out what needs to be worked out,” the SNY reporter tweeted.
Several hours later, this afternoon, NFL insider Tom Pelissero is pushing back on Hughes’ report.
“Despite a report to the contrary, the Packers and Jets have not agreed to the framework of an Aaron Rodgers trade, per sources. Both sides continue to await word from Rodgers on his plans. If he decides he wants to go to New York, then the teams will work to hammer out a deal.”

Rodgers has yet to make an official decision on his playing status in 2023.
Recent comments by Packers president Mark Murphy, though, appear to indicate that the longtime Green Bay quarterback will either retire or be traded to the Jets this offseason.
While Pelissero’s update this afternoon might mean that a Rodgers decision won’t be coming this weekend, Murphy also revealed that he anticipates one being made by Wednesday, the start of free agency.
Expect the Aaron Rodgers saga to continue, at least for the next few days.
