For the first time in what’s seemed like forever, the Colts have a future at the quarterback position.
Indianapolis drafted Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson at No. 4 overall on Thursday, and according to Colts’ owner Jim Irsay, that pick had been planned for months.
“I always kinda felt like (Anthony) Richardson was gonna be the guy,” Irsay said today during a session with the media.
“…even early in the process, even back in February.”

That’s not the only high praise Irsay gave to the Colts’ new franchise quarterback this Saturday.
Later, he revealed that Indianapolis likely would’ve taken Richardson with the No. 1 overall pick, that is, had they made a trade to move up.
“Even if we had the first pick in the draft, we would’ve probably taken Anthony,” the Colts owner said.
