The Carolina Panthers are officially on the clock after acquiring the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft from the Bears on Friday.
Carolina reportedly sent a slew of draft capital – including the No. 9 pick and a second-rounder in this year’s draft, a first-round pick in 2024 and a second-round selection in 2025 – to the Bears in exchange for the top pick this April.
But there was another piece included in today’s blockbuster trade – longtime Panthers wideout D.J. Moore.
The five-year NFL veteran appeared stunned by the deal in a tweet this Friday afternoon.

Moore has been one of the most consistent receivers in football since being drafted in 2018.
He tallied three straight 1,100-yard campaigns between 2019 and 2021 and has never finished a season with less than 775 receiving yards. He’s also missed just two games in his five-year NFL career.
Now a member of the Bears’ receiving core, Moore should provide quarterback Justin Fields with a proven weapon on the outside. Chicago’s top-two wideouts before today’s trade, Darnell Mooney and Equanimeous St. Brown, combined for 816 receiving yards in 2022. Moore posted 888.
