The Las Vegas Raiders will be trotting out a new quarterback in 2023. Reports surfacing this Monday afternoon appear to indicate that former 49ers signal caller Jimmy Garoppolo is the frontrunner to land the job.
According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Raiders intend to give Garoppolo a three-year, $67.5 million contract when the new league year begins on Wednesday.
But just moments after the deal was announced, Raiders superstar Davante Adams appeared to share his thoughts on the move on Instagram.
“If we haven’t talked in the last three weeks don’t hit me about this sh-t. Thanks,” the Las Vegas wideout said in an Instagram story posted this afternoon.

Adams may have been hoping that Aaron Rodgers, his quarterback in Green Bay for eight seasons, would be traded to the Las Vegas franchise this offseason. A reunion between the two seemed plausible just weeks ago when the Raiders were the betting favorites to land the longtime Packers signal caller.
As much as Adams may be disappointed this Monday, Garoppolo – assuming the deal becomes official on Wednesday – has posted very comparable career numbers to ex-Raiders quarterback Derek Carr. Adams frequently spoke highly of Carr, his teammate at Fresno State, last season.
While taking note of a sample size discrepancy (Garoppolo has played 72 games to Carr’s 142), the two quarterbacks have both been quite efficient in their respective NFL careers. Garoppolo holds a slight completion percentage advantage over Carr (67.6 vs 64.6 percent) and also has a better career passer rating than the former Raider (99.6 vs 91.8).
Adams will have plenty of time to get acquainted with his new quarterback this offseason, should the deal become official at the start of the new league year on Wednesday.
