The New York Jets announced last week that they’d be releasing wide receiver Braxton Berrios at the start of the new league year.
With that date now passed as of Wednesday, Berrios is a free agent who’s able to sign with any team of his choosing. This Thursday, it appears he’s made a decision on his next destination.
According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Miami Dolphins have signed Berrios to a one-year deal.
Dolphins are signing former Jets’ WR Braxton Berrios to a one-year deal, per league source. The deal was negotiated and confirmed by Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey.

Berrios, 27, was selected by the New England Patriots in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He did not suit up for any regular season games during his rookie year and was cut by the Patriots before the 2019 season.
It didn’t take the ex-Miami Hurricane long to find a new team, though, as he was scooped up by the Jets that same offseason. Despite not starting a game for the New York franchise in 2019, he appeared in all 16 and first displayed his special teams prowess during that season.
After an improved 2020 campaign which saw Berrios post a new career-high in receiving yards (394) and touchdowns (3), the wideout truly broke out in 2021. He earned a first-team All-Pro nod for his efforts as a kick returner and once again logged a new career-high in receiving yards (431).
Now with his third AFC East team in 2023, Berrios should provide the Dolphins with more depth at the receiver position and a strong option for their kick-return team.
