While we are still about five months away from the start of the NFL season, one team and player have already received brutal injury news.

Josina Anderson of CBS Sports reported Tuesday that Cleveland Browns wide receiver Michael Woods II is believed to have torn his Achilles during an offseason workout. Woods, a second-year pro, was working out with quarterback Deshaun Watson in Texas when the injury occurred.

According to Anderson, tests are still being reviewed by the Browns’ medical team.

Assuming Woods’ injury is what it looks like, that would be a brutal blow for the Oklahoma product. As a rookie, Woods appeared in 10 games and caught five passes for 45 yards.

Woods would be expected to miss the entire 2023 campaign if he has indeed suffered a torn Achilles, although it’s not impossible that he could return for the final few games, as we saw Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers do following a torn Achilles in July of 2021.

We will be hoping Woods can make a similarly speedy recovery.
