The Carolina Panthers will be picking atop the NFL Draft this year after sending a haul to the Chicago Bears on Friday.
While many expect the team to select a quarterback with the No. 1 pick, one Panthers insider is reporting that Carolina hasn’t made a final decision just yet.
“Panthers will take a QB at 1 but have a couple guys they like. Also not discounting trading back to 2 and recouping some of what they just gave up,” Scott Fowler of the Charlotte Observer announced tonight.
“We control it now,” one Panthers source reportedly told Fowler.

The Panthers trading back after moving up to No. 1 would certainly be surprising. However, given the slew of picks they sent to the Bears today, it would make sense if they aren’t sold on one quarterback come draft time.
If another team like Houston, who picks right behind Carolina at No. 2, falls in love with one quarterback, Carolina could theoretically swap picks to take their guy and recoup some draft capital.
Expect to hear more on the Panthers’ plan for the No. 1 pick in the weeks leading up to the start of the NFL Draft on April 27.
