The new-look Denver Broncos completed a transaction today that may not make front-page news, but boosts the team’s veteran presence entering next season.
Sean Payton’s squad acquired tight end Adam Trautman from the New Orleans Saints, parting with a draft pick to do so. Tom Pelissero broke down the specifics below.
“The Saints are trading TE Adam Trautman and a seventh-rounder to the Broncos for the No. 196 pick, per source. A reunion with Sean Payton.”

Playing time should be readily available for Trautman. Also on Denver’s depth chart at tight end are Greg Dulcich, Albert Okwuegbunam, and Chris Manhertz.
A product of Dayton, Trautman has appeared in 43 games across three seasons as a Saint, finding the end zone four times.
In addition to his on-field contributions, journalist Luke Johnson’s firsthand account of Trautman implies he’ll be a stellar clubhouse presence.
“As a reporter, it’s a bummer we’re not going to have Adam Trautman in the locker room,” Johnson tweeted.
“He always provided great insight and always took the time to answer our questions. Played through injury too in NO. Wishing him the best in Denver.”
