The San Francisco 49ers defensive line just got bigger, stronger and faster.
Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Javon Hargrave and the 49ers reached an agreement on a four-year, $84 million deal that includes $40 million guaranteed at signing on Monday.
Hargrave fills one of the Niners biggest weaknesses at tackle. San Francisco had one of the best defenses in the NFL last season, boasting talent form defensive ends Nick Bosa, Arik Armstead, Javon Kinlaw and Samson Ebukam. Adding an elite pass rusher to an already elite defensive unit is… what’s the phrase for it…
“…going to be fun to watch,” Richard Sherman said.
The former Niners cornerback seems onboard with the team’s newest signing (come Wednesday).
Goodness that @49ers D Line is going to be fun to watch.

Not only does Hargrave add to an already talented defensive line, but the 49ers stole him away from their top NFC competitor, who they met, and succumbed to, in the NFC Championship Game last season.

Hargrave generated a 14.1 percent pressure rate over the last two seasons, the only defensive tackle over 12 percent (who played a minimum of 500 pass rushes), per Next Gen Stats.
