Ever since Tom Brady announced on Feb. 1 that he was retiring from the NFL, fans have wondered whether or not the legendary quarterback would stick with his decision. After all, it was just a year ago that Brady announced his retirement and then reversed course, returning to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

But several signs have pointed to Brady being finished with his playing days for real this time. The most clear of them came Thursday night.

According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, Brady held an “unofficial retirement party” in Tampa. Asked what his future holds, Brady said he’s prioritizing being a father.

“There is nothing I love more than football, but I have young children and they watched enough of their dad’s games and it’s time for me to watch their games,” Brady said.

That marked the latest time Brady has rebuffed the idea that he might attempt another comeback, including last week, when he joked that he doesn’t have time to play football after adopting a kitten for his daughter, Vivian.

Still, Brady’s own words have not totally stopped rumors that he could play in 2023. NFL Network’s Rich Eisen claimed that he heard rumors from a few sources during the NFL Combine that the Miami Dolphins could be a potential landing spot for the GOAT.

We will, of course, keep an eye out for signs of another Brady return. But it sure sounds like he’s content to simply be a father before launching his post-playing career of calling games for Fox Sports starting in 2024.
